Synopsis:
In a silly pursuit for financial freedom, three friends turned rivals search for love in all the wrong places in the city of sin. Men Will Be Boys is a suspenseful dark comedy that follows three frenemies on a quest for their version of the “American Dream” while also violating business ethics and the guy code. The thought-provoking comedy features several storylines that explore themes such as masculinity, promiscuity, financial illiteracy, and entrepreneurial encouragement with a comedy of errors in Vegas.
Terrence, Justice, and Brandon, childhood friends, accept a playful million-dollar challenge: the first millionaire claims half of the losers’ assets, and the losers must bow to the winner with no explanation other than, “He is my King.” “I am not worthy!” They start with counterfeit money and hope to convert it into real currency through creative means and additional income streams, much like the game Monopoly but with personal vendettas. What begins as a friendly competition turns into a bitter, entertaining battle of financial freedom gone wrong.
Men Will Be Boys is an exhilarating journey of relationship mishaps and entrepreneurial encouragement, inspiring audiences to pursue financial independence.
Men Will Be Boys, originated as a TV series pilot, has the potential to become a series on a streaming service. I used writing competitions to improve the quality of my projects. Typically, when I submit to them, I pay extra to get feedback from people I have never met to get honest responses. Men Will Be Boys was a semifinalist in the ScreenCraft Virtual Pitch Spring 2024. The pilot was previously a second-rounder at the Austin Film Festival, a quarterfinalist in the ScreenCraft Comedy Competition, and is currently a semi-finalist in the Nashville Film Festival Screenwriting Competition of 2024.
